Who we are

The NZ School Of Radio has two intakes per year; Semester 1 starts in mid-January and Semester 2 mid-July.

Class sizes are limited which gives you more one-on-one time with the more than 25 tutors & guest speakers that come into the school and more on-air time on the two radio stations on campus.

Our New Zealand radio school course is extremely popular with students and guests alike. We have over 25 guest tutors (including radio legends like Stables) and speakers that visit the school during the semester. You will learn from people who have been-there, done-that, and are willing to share their knowledge with you. We now also offer international guest speakers through ‘Skype’… our thinking is ‘act locally, think globally’!

The myriad guests that frequent the course will also make crucial radio industry contacts down the line, which will be beneficial in your future employment.

Radio job placements over the last 3 years have averaged 69.2%, but the process does require some enthusiasm, passion and drive from you.

You will get to meet many of the stars of the NZ radio industry with trips to Auckland, and exclusive work experience opportunities.

You’ll be shown around (and get to know the folks) at the Rock, the Edge, More FM, Radio Live, ZM, Classic Hits, Newstalk ZB, Flava, Radio Hauraki and more!

Why Tauranga?
  1. It’s central to many centres like Hamilton, Rotorua, Taupo & Auckland.

  2. Cheaper to live than Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and there’s heaps of student accommodation available.

  3. No commuting time, you can get anywhere in the city in just 10 minutes.

  4. A great student vibe with heaps of restaurants and bars.

  5. Go paddle boarding, surfing and swimming at one of NZ’s favourite beaches in the Mount.
